seaweed

The Trust has carried out trials on the potential of seaweed as a fertiliser in the Falkland Islands.

The Trust’s interest in the value of organic production focussed on the use of seaweed as a naturally occurring source of stock feed and fertiliser. This research highlighted the potential of kelp and gave some support and expert opinion on the development of a seaweed industry in the islands.

Other aquaculture-related developments were assisted through sourcing of expertise, advice provision and presentation at national and international conferences.
